Mumbai, 13th July 2023: Hot on the heels of the recent success of his Amazon Prime Video series ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’, Actor and Musician Alexx O’Nell is set to mesmerise his fans once again – this time with his original song and music video ‘These Four Walls’, releasing Friday the 14th of July 2023.
With an impressive repertoire of over 40 films and series to his name, coupled with the success of his previous three singles and music videos, Alexx O’Nell has become a household name in India. And, with the release of ‘These Four Walls’ both recorded and shot in Cape Town, he is set to enter the South African market on a high note as well!
The Aarya Actor explains “I am an adventure sport enthusiast and whenever I’m not not on location shooting, you can find me riding motorcycles and paragliding in two of my favourite countries: India and South Africa! While in Cape Town a few month back I met DJ Cosher and producer Dave Pearce, and I loved their ideas regarding my music, so we decided to work on a few tracks together. ‘These Four Walls’ is the first of these to be completed, and I’m incredibly excited to hear what people think of my new sound.”
While ‘These Four Walls’ opens with an acoustic guitar intro showcasing Alexx’s vocal performance, it quickly transitions into an upbeat funk guitar-driven synth-pop sound, accompanied by an energetic drumbeat and a punchy bassline. Effortlessly combining the artist’s emotive lyrics with a dynamic and captivating musical arrangement the song is certain to evoke deep emotional resonance, but also get toes tapping and hands clapping. Musically, ‘These Four Walls’ underscores Alexx’s abilities as a singer / songwriter, first made evident by his heartfelt ballads ‘Still On My Mind’ and ‘Twenty Days’. His fourth single, ‘These Four Walls’ is destined to be instantly recognisable and appealing to a broad audience.
Complementing the song’s catchy melodies, the accompanying music video for ‘These Four Walls’ follows Alexx’s nocturnal journey through the streets of Cape Town. Donning a fluffy blue bathrobe and slippers, he navigates the famous ‘First Thursdays’ food and art festival; moving through the crowds, and exploring alleys known only to Cape Town locals. Along the way, he acquires a balloon, evades the police, playfully indulges in a stranger’s glass of wine, takes a bite of someone’s food, and even puffs a lady’s cigarette. Ultimately, his search leads him to a fulfilling conclusion, ending the fun and quirky visual experience on a delightful note.
“I think [Video Director] Danie Nel perfectly captured the essence of Cape Town at night, without it becoming a tourism advertisement…” The actor laughs.
The back-to-back releases of ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ and ‘These Four Walls’ is undoubtedly a testament to Alexx O’Nell’s multifaceted talent, and with six titles currently in the pipeline as an actor, fans can look forward to quite a few releases hitting screens big and small over the coming months. These include Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Khufiya’ with Ali Faizal and Tabu, and ‘Aye Watan Mere Watan’ opposite Sara Ali Khan. On the music front, Alexx has planned an acoustic version of ‘These Four Walls’, recorded with Indian producer Debarpito Saha, before diving into his next single.
“I’m humbled that people appreciated my performance as Robert in ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’, I only hope that they will show as much love to ‘These Four Walls’ on July 14th!” He signs off.
