Delhi and Toronto based Tanya’s latest release “Despite” is a must listen!

New Delhi, 30th September 2021: Home of dark and haunting melodies, immersive musical soundscapes, vocal tapestries and thoughtful lyrics, Static River is the brainchild of India and Canada based music technologist / producer, live electronic performer, and singer-songwriter, Tanya. Static River combines the rich control afforded by electronic sounds with the spontaneity and expression of the human voice. The song, Despite, was released on 17th September across all major audio and video streaming platforms.

About the track, Tanya says, “Written in the depths of a crushing Canadian winter coupled with the desolation of COVID-19. Despite is a deep dark coming-of-age track honouring the endurance of the human spirit “despite” abuse and hardship. Constructed with haunting vocals, catchy arps, and ominous bells, the track climaxes with a cinematic-rock finish. Perfect for an introspective mood, the track will uplift and heal with its rock solid vibes”.

Tanya was raised in multicultural New Delhi, exposed to theatrical vocal performance, French choir, and Sufi music. Leaving home at eighteen, Tanya has lived in five cities across three continents and visited ~20 countries supported by scholarships and jobs. While studying in Vancouver, working a corporate job in downtown Toronto, solo backpacking, or starting social initiatives, Tanya remained connected to music by playing in bands, DJ-ing, or learning at the Global Music Institute. Currently, she divides her time between India and Canada as Static River.
