IFP’s 50 Hour Music Challenge jury can be summed up in one word, ‘Holistic’

Mumbai, 20th August 2024: Since the time the 50 Hour Music Challenge has been announced, there has been a wave of curiosity around the event as well as the jury. Well, this year’s jury can be summed up in one word, ‘Holistic’. Comprising of names that have made an indelible mark in the industry, this year’s 50 Hour Music Challenge will see some of the best artist’s judging the future talent! Below is the jury and a brief about them:

Arivu

Rapper, Songwriter

Arivu, is an Indian composer, rapper, singer and songwriter. He is best known for his independent singles like Enjoy Enjaami, Sanda Seivom, Kalla Mouni and for film numbers like Vathi Raid from Master (2020), Single Pasanga from Natpe Thunai (2019), Neeye Oli from Sarpatta Parambarai (2021), and Maaveerarukku Maranamila for The Family Man S2 (2021). He has also been awarded the revolutionary voice in 2024.

Darbuka Siva

Darbuka Siva is a writer, director, music director and actor based in Chennai, India. Starting out initially as an independent musician, experimenting with contemporary Indian music, Siva moved on to make music for feature films during 2015. His soundtracks have been a path breaker in the Tamil film circuit with tracks like “Maruvaarthai” for Gautham Vasudev Menon’s film and ‘Mudhal Nee’ becoming massive hits across all streaming platforms. Siva’s directorial debut ‘Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee’ was released in January 2022 and was an instant hit too. The film has also won various international awards including an “Honourable mention” at the New York Movie Awards.

Shor Police

Bollywood-International Pop Duo

Shor Police Live is the brainchild of multi-award-winning composer and producer Clinton Cerejo and acclaimed singer-songwriter Bianca Gomes. This Bollywood and international pop duo creates innovative mashups, blending Bollywood covers with international chartbusters, along with reality show favorite Yash Kapoor. Clinton has lent his voice to hits like “Endendrum Punnagai,” “Hey Ya!” and “Yaaram,” and composed scores for films like “Kahaani” and “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.” Bianca’s repertoire spans genres from pop to rock, R&B, soul, funk, blues, and jazz. Together, they deliver a captivating and unique musical experience.

Sushin Shyam

An Indian music composer, instrumentalist, and singer primarily associated with Malayalam cinema, is also a founding member of the folk metal band The Down Troddence. He is known for his contributions to the films Varathan (2018), Kumbalangi Nights (2019), Minnal Murali (2021), Bheeshma Parvam (2022), Romancham (2023), Kannur Squad (2023), Manjummel Boys (2024), and Aavesham (2024). His work on Kumbalangi Nights earned him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director in 2019.

Tech Panda & Kenzani

Tech Panda x Kenzani, the contemporary producer duo set out to create music that had a piece of their soul and home in it. They looked to the past to help unlock the present, creating a genre that spans diverse sounds and decades. With the viral hit ‘Dilbar’ added to their stockpile of successful tracks like ‘Khoyo’, ‘Indian Monsoon’, ‘Doya’ and ‘Metanoia’, Tech Panda x Kenzani have quickly cemented their position as India’s foremost electronica acts. Over the past two years, Rupinder Nanda and Kedar Santwani aka Tech Panda and Kenzani respectively, have released more than 80 tracks together, amassing fans and accolades. They gained worldwide attention and acclaim for the rendition of ‘Sunflower’, in collaboration with Badal. The rendition song, from the soundtrack of Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse movie, is just the beginning of defying musical conventions for them.
