July 2024: As an artist, I would want to become one of the biggest globally: Deedar Kaur

From Panipat to Tinsel Town, Deedar Kaur has seen a journey not many can even dream about. The benchmarks were set high at home, and she only looks determined to surpass them as she goes ahead. Having been signed by Times Music as an exclusive artist, Deedar is a star performer, on screen and on stage, both. She recently released her latest song ‘Chan Kithan’ on Times Music, and we took some time from her to delve deeper into her work and life. Read more on what she has to say here:

Tell us about your latest song ‘Chan Kithan’.

Our team was in the process of finalising a folk song when we stumbled upon ‘Chan Kithan’. Folk songs are unique because they resonate with everyone and aren’t owned by anyone. While ‘Chan Kithan’ has been recreated numerous times, those versions often have a slow or melancholic tone. We decided to give it a fresh twist by creating a faster, peppier version that stands out with its vibrant energy.

Tell us about your collaboration with Gucci Singh and Krsna Solo.

Gucci Singh, my brother, has always been someone I wanted to collaborate with. ‘Chan Kithan’ is the perfect song to showcase our first collaboration, and his contribution significantly enhances the track both lyrically and musically. Gucci’s vibrant energy and captivating voice elevate the song to new heights.

My journey with Krsna Solo has been incredible. We have worked on quite a few songs so far and the chemistry we developed was undeniable. He has an exceptional ability to cater to the song, and his innovative approach brought a funky and rock fusion to ‘Chan Kithan’, making it truly special.

How does conversation revolve around work within your family?

Whenever we all sit together, the central topic of discussion is generally music. We talk about what’s trending, what’s new, what’s in the market, and what new genres we’re listening to. But being the mischievous one, I never disclose my songs. I even want my family to hear them for the first time when the song releases so that they are the first & foremost to give me their love and reactions & now that’s kinda my ritual for my every release.

How has been the impact of Asees Kaur in your life?

Asees has had a profound impact on my life. She has always been a benchmark. I have lived many of my dreams through her achievements. Her success in the Bollywood industry has been a source of immense pride and joy for me. Now that she is well-settled and popular, I feel it’s my turn to pursue my own dreams and aspirations. I am also incredibly grateful to her for introducing me to Times Music and Mandar Sir, which has been a turning point in my journey.

Tell us about your association with Times Music.

I feel blessed to be associated with Times Music. Our journey together has been incredible, and I have grown and evolved significantly through our collaboration. The credit goes to my whole Team at Times Music.

I owe big time to Mandar Thakur, the CEO of Times Music who carefully curates my discography to make it distinctive and special. His belief in me and his dedication to my growth are things I will always be thankful for. He dreams bigger for me than I do for myself, and for that, I am forever grateful. I am one of his ardent admirers.

Not to forget Varshha, the A&R from Times Music, who is my go-to person and she is the one who spotted me and connected the dots.

How do you deal with highs and lows in your life?

To be honest, I have had highs and lows, but I do not dwell on the lows much. It is about living in the moment and then we together as a family move over it. Once we have sat down, done our paath (prayers) and ardaas, and left things to Guru Nanak Dev Ji, everything tends to resolve itself.

How does the rest of the year 2024 look like?

I have quite a few songs lined up for 2024, ranging from Indie to Bollywood to Punjabi movies. I’ve explored different genres and even tried my hand at regional songs. It’s an exciting time for me, and I’m eagerly waiting for these songs to be released. My part is to sing, and then I leave it to destiny to take the music where it deserves to be. The rest of 2024 looks packed and promising, with many exciting projects on the horizon.

What are your key priorities during a live performance?

Being on stage is an unparalleled experience for an artist. Every time I step on stage, I feel a different reality where vibes exchange, and I connect deeply with the audience. It’s all about being in the moment, living in that zone, and giving my best. My only priority is to put up the best show of our lives, each time I step on the stage with my team. I don’t force anything; I flow with the vibe, making each performance feel genuine and effortless.

How would you describe yourself as a person and as an artist?

I am a God-loving person who wants to keep things simple & straight. I always want to be there for my people, cherishing my relationships, keeping them close to my heart. No matter where fame takes me, I hope to remain grounded and true to who I am today.

As an artist, I aim to thrive, achieve greater heights, and continuously learn and grow. I embrace both learning and unlearning, experimenting with everything that comes my way. My goal is to become one of the biggest artists globally.

What does it take to be a singer and an onscreen performer?

The ingredients to this recipe are very simple – “Rabb Di Meher”, hard work, motivation, dedication, and consistency. You need to be emotionally strong and focused on your goals. It also takes the support and good wishes of the family, and the team, who are always cheering you on.

Their encouragement, combined with my dedication, drives me to continually contribute to my career and give my best.

Well, with Deedar Kaur, one thing is certain, and that’s quality music with a great onscreen vibe! As she keeps growing her catalogue, at MusiCulture we will be hooked on to her growth story.
