As KOAD looks to the future, he is grateful for the response to “deepika” and excited to share more music with his fans. “It’s been incredible to see how ‘deepika’ has connected with people from all over the world,” he says. “I’m humbled by the response and can’t wait to continue creating music that inspires and uplifts”.

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, KOAD is a self-taught artist who began making music at the age of 13. Growing up with a diverse palette of inspirations, from classic hip-hop albums to timeless Bollywood soundtracks, he’s unafraid to leverage his unique identity to bring a refreshing perspective to modern hip-hop. His musical journey began at 13 with a beat-pad in his childhood bedroom, using YouTube to learn production and immerse himself in the musical worlds of artists ranging from Kendrick Lamar & Tyler the Creator to James Brown & Bruce Springsteen.

After facing a series of mental health challenges, KOAD dropped out of high school at sixteen and began working on his first album, TREEHOUSE. He convinced his older brother to drop out of college to help him develop his sound and they spent every hour in his parents’ garage dreaming of ways to navigate an industry they knew little about. After two years of development & building at the KOGO Home alongside terrific artists including Asha Imuno, CONNIE, Alé Araya, REHMA & more – he began sharing original music.

His debut single “pots n’ pans,” earned over 400K views & coverage from AltPress, COLORS, and OnesToWatch. He followed up with “jaunty” co-produced with Kwes Darko (Denzel Curry, Slowthai, Obongjayar) accompanied by a remarkable music video, and the West-Coast inspired posse cut “enuff,” featuring West Coast hip-hop upcomer ICECOLDBISHOP.

After a three-year hiatus due to health issues, KOAD is now back in full swing. His comeback single “deepika” has taken the world by storm, with features on the Zane Lowe Show, BBC Radio Asia, and Amazon Prime India cementing its status as a global phenomenon.
