Nikhil D’Souza brings in old school romance in this modern day with new EP ‘Leher’

Mumbai, 12th July 2024: After diving into nostalgia with his last EP ‘Waqt’, singer-songwriter Nikhil D’Souza is back bridging the past with his new EP ‘Leher’. This five track compilation of soulful songs in Hindi has released today across all streaming platforms. Pinky Poonawala has penned the lyrics for all the songs of this splendid EP.

Nikhil is looked up to as one of the earliest indie singer songwriters in the country. With this EP, he tries to explore that sound from the past with modern day songwriting. His music themes have always been around love and this time his music is trying to embrace old school romance in a modern world, pretty much like the sound of the EP.

Commenting on this new release, Nikhil D’souza said, “I believe today’s world has forgotten that love comes with a certain amount of cringe. We no longer make mixtapes, write cute letters etc. that seemingly have become uncool. I think somewhere deep inside, everyone really yearns for that kind of cringe from their partners and friends. This EP might inspire you to relook at love in this way”.

Over the last few years, Nikhil has been writing songs that speak of the different stages of certain relationships – getting over a previous lover, the yearning for someone new, the wooing, the actual new relationship itself and then the musings over why it didn’t work out. Leher is an EP where he has tried to collect these thoughts and emotions that seem, like a wave, to ebb and flow. The highs and lows are also something he’s attempted to capture dynamically in the recordings and productions themselves with hopes that there’s a song in this EP that every listener will relate to whenever they need it.

‘Leher’ is out now on all streaming platforms!
