This is my first album and I just wanted to represent myself through it: Nijjar

Nijjar is one artist who has been putting out some fab music but not much is known about him. With Accounts, he has got the industry buzzing, of course when you collab with Honey Singh people will talk more! We had a brief conversation with him recently, here are the excerpts:

After making music for a reasonable time, its this collab with Honey Singh that has got you all the attention. How does it feel?

I was trying to create a big collab for a long time and this time it just happened. I went to Honey Singh, he liked my music and it all fell in place, long story short and it feels great!

What is the album His Story about?

The album consists of 10 songs, and they have been written about me. The songs explain the person that I am. I have tried to be more ‘me’ in these songs. The album was completed in 2023, however, there was a delay in release owing to the scheduling of some of the features.

What prompted to create an album about yourself?

This is my first album and I just wanted to represent myself through it. It is about telling people of who I am through the songs in this album. My first EP was called No. 1, and this album is called His Story, and its about putting yourself out for everyone to see.

How was the experience of working on the collabs in this album?

With Deepak and Gurlez, I have worked earlier so it was quite easy working again on this album. With Honey Singh I was working for the first time, but it was relatively easy as I was confident about my music. It was a great experience working with all the artists on this album.

Which track was the most challenging and the one that was the easiest from this album?

The most challenging song from the album is Jatt Bina. It took us about a month to create. From vocals to music to everything in the song was done, redone and done again to make it sound what it sounds today. The easiest one to make was Accounts, I wrote it in 5 min while Deep completed the music in a day. Honey Singh’s verse was written by Leo Grewal.

What is next after this album?

I will be dropping a single after this album and we are working on a few more collaborations. We are looking to bring American Punjabi Hip Hop to India.

Any plans to come to India?

Yes, I am trying to come to India for album promotion!
