With Hitlist dropping, I’m focused on pushing my sound to new heights: GMINXR

GMINXR, one of the names behind Punjabi-Canadian hip-hop’s global surge, is now stepping into the spotlight as an artist in his own right. Raised in Victoria, B.C., GMINXR, born Gagun Singh Randhawa, transformed isolation into creativity, blending Western hip-hop influences with Punjabi folk, birthing a unique sound. After years of crafting chart-topping hits for AP Dhillon and Gurinder Gill, the Victoria-born producer-turned-artist is ready for his time to shine. We had an interaction with him recently, here is what he said;

From being one of the backbones of path-breaking sound with AP Dhillon, Gurinder Gill, now releasing your own EP, how has life shaped for you as an artist?

Working behind the scenes on some of the biggest records has been an incredible journey. It taught me a lot about crafting a unique sound and how music connects with people on a deeper level. Now, stepping out as an artist with my own EP, Hitlist, feels like the next natural evolution. It’s about bringing my vision to life, pushing boundaries, and showing the world the sound I’ve been shaping over the years. It’s a new chapter, and I’m excited to see where it leads.

Tell us more about Hitlist. Is there any kind of sonic or storytelling connection between the songs of the EP?

Hitlist is more than just a collection of songs; it’s a statement. Sonically, it blends hip-hop, Punjabi, and global influences, bringing a fresh yet hard-hitting vibe. Each track has its own energy, but together they tell a story of ambition, hustle, and the highs and lows of the lifestyle that comes with it. Whether it’s flexing, reflecting, or just vibing out, every song on Hitlist serves a purpose.

What is the inspiration behind your first release, “Lifestyle”?

Lifestyle is about embracing the grind and the rewards that come with it. It’s that feeling of levelling up, staying true to yourself, and moving with confidence. The beat hits hard, and the energy is clear —it’s meant to be played loud. I wanted the track to feel like a celebration but also a reminder that this journey takes work. It’s the perfect introduction to Hitlist because it sets the tone for everything that’s coming next.
